Yoko sold t-shirts at a festival. She made $6 for each t-shirt she sold. Her expenses were $30 . If she made a profit of $84 , how many t-shirts did she sell?

Call the number of shirts she sold, S.  Then, her total revenue = $6 times the number of shirts she sold.

Total  (Revenue) - Total Expenses = Total Profit     ......so.....

6S   - 30   = 84      add 30 to both sides

6S = 114      divide both sides by 6

S = 19  shirts

Hmmmmm.....another poorly worded problem

if she TRULY made 84 dollars PROFIT   and she MADE 6 each shirt (it does NOT say she SOLD them for 6 ea) then 84/6 = 14 shirts    and expenses are irrelevant in this question.

if she MADE 6 for each shirt then she must have priced them @  (84 + 30)/14 = 114/14 =  8.14 ea   2.14 of which was expense and 6 of profit.

Yes, guest I suppose you are technically correct.....I assumed the term "made"  is what she charged for each shirt......who knows????

I do not know , Cphill......I just like to give them different perspectives...maybe we'll strike the right answer....maybe we'll teach some logical/analytical/critical  thinking.   !!!     Either way....YOU are usually correct.      Thanx for being here...
