PEMDAS is an abbreviation for the order of operations when solving any math problem.
The order is:
1) Parenthesis
2) Exponents
3) Multiply and Divide in order from left to right. (Careful with this part, as it confuses a lot of people)
4) Addition and Subtraction in order from left to right. (Again, do this last step in order from left to right.)
A common way to remember this order is the phrase "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally."
