How do you multiply and simplify?
x(2x+1)(x-3)

x(2x+1) = x*2x + x*1 = 2x 2+ x

Now
( 2x 2 + x ) ( x-3) = 2x 2 * (x-3) + x * (x-3)

then you expand those brackets and collect the like terms.
Can you finish it?

If you had of wanted to you could have worked out what (2x+1)(x-3) was first and then multiplied by x afterwards.
You can multiply in any order
eg 3*2*6 = 2*6*3 = 3*6*2

First, you begin by distributing the x throughout the first set of parenthesis like so:

x(2x+1) becomes (2x 2+1x)

You then use the F.O.I.L method, multiplying the first, outside, inside, and last terms in the two sets of parenthesis like so:

2x 2*x
2x 2*-3 (don't forget the - here)
1*x
1*-3 (don't forget the - here either)

You then add all of these terms together resulting in 2x 3-6x 2+x-3.

Hope this helps!
