What is the surface area of a square pyramid with a base perimeter of 32 and a lateral edge of 4
Lateral edge length = e =4 = sqrt(h^2 + 1/2 a^2 ) h=height a = side length (8----- since it is a square 32/4 = 8)
Hmmmmmm....
I would ask if you have your numbers entered correctly in your question ! Lateral edge of 4???? maybe a different value?
See the following:

I looked at this earlier and I agree wiih EP......
Each side of the base = 8
Thus....each face can be divided into two congruent right triangles..........and each of these would have a "bottom" leg = 4.....and in each case, the lateral edge of 4 would serve as a hypotenuse....however......a leg can never = a hypotenuse.....
