Melanie has a 4 gallon mixture of “homemade” orange paint mixed with red andyellow paint at a 3:7 ratio. However, the orange is a little bit too red to her liking, and she realized that she actually wanted a 2:13 ratio instead. Fortunately, she hasa lot of yellow paint. How many gallons of yellow paint should Melanie add to themixture to achieve the 2:13 ratio?

4 gallons 0f  3:7     means  4 * 7/10 is yellow

4 * 7/10   +   x    =   13/15 ( 4+x)

28/10      + x    = 52/15 + 13/15 x

             (84-104)/30             =     -  2/15 x

                20/30 = 2/15 x

x = 5 gallons of yellow to add
