Actually that's a 1 dimensional object rotated about a point to make a circle which is 2 dimensional.

You really want a skinny rectangle rotated about an axis to make a rather flat 3 dimensional cylinder (pancake).

Pancakes,  did someone mention pancakes?  I want some.  I want some now!!  I love pancakes!

Are these pancakes round?  I think they are supposed to be round..  

let's see.  Tie a 4" peice of cotton onto a needle.  Stick the needle into the middle of the pancake. Now hold the cotton taught so it makes a straight line. Now rotate the taught cotton around the fixed needle.  What shape did you make?  What is a dimension?

Is my pancake this shape?

Now stop fooling around.  I'm hungry!  Give me my pancake!!!
