P is the midpoint of line QR. If PQ=7x - 3 and PR= 2x + 23. What is the length of QR?

Then we have something like this:

Q--------------------------P----------------------------R

       7x - 3                            2x + 23

So PQ = PR   and we have

7x - 3   =   2x + 23       add 3 to both sides    and subtract 2x from both sides

5x  = 26                       divide by 5 on both sides

x = 26/5

So, using one of the equations

7(26/5) - 3  = 33.4 - PQ = PR   and twice this  = QR =  66.8

I have not made sense of you question yet but have you tried drawing a picture?

That is the first thing I would do!

If  PQ = 5,QR = 2x, and PR = 7x, what is PR?
