Mike purchased two different cans of soup at the grocery store. The first can of soup has a 4-inch diameter and is 8 inches tall. The second can of soup has an 8-inch diameter and is 4 inches tall.

Area of label on first soup  can =

 

2pi (d/2) * h  =  

2pi (4/2) * 8  = 

32 pi  inches^2

 

Area of label on second soup can =

 

2pi (d/2) * h =

2pi (8/2) * 4  =

32 pi inches^2

 

They both have the same area!!!
