How do I find min or max value of y= -6x^2 - 1

y   =  -6x^2  -  1

 

This is a parabola  that opens downward....it has no minimum

 

Notice  that  y  will be a maximum when  x  = 0

 

So.....the  max occurs at    (0, -1)
