-4z^2 + 20z - 6

 

The z that will maxmize this occurs at  

 

-20 / [2 * -4]  =   -20/-8  =  5/2 = 2.5

 

Subbing this back into the function, the max value is

 

-4(2.5)^2 + 20(2.5) - 6  =
