The awning and the window form a right angle.....

the sun rays from the end of the awning to the bottom of the window form the hypotenuse of a right triangle....

window leg of the triangle is 2.8m

awning leg of the triangle = ?

angle between window leg and sun ray is 20 degrees (90 -70)

Tan 20 = opp / adj  = ? / 2.8

 2.8 *tan 20 = ?

tan(20)*2.8 =~~ 1.02 m    (corrected.....the first answer I posted was using radians instead of degrees)
