-4/3x + 2/5x = 14/45         get the common denominator of 45 on the left

(-60/45)x + (18/45)x  = 14/45       multiply through by 45

-60x  + 18x   =  14         combine like terms

-42x   =  14               divide by -42 on both sides

x  =  14 / -42   =  -1 / 3
