You find your GPA (in the US anyway) by setting

A=4

B=3

C=2

D=1

E or sometimes F = 0

Then take the average of your grades.

So in this case we have 2 A's, a B, and 3 C's.  6 total grades, so we sum them up and divide by 6 for the average.

4 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 17

and

17/6 = 2.83333 ...

GPAs are generally rounded to 2 digits to the right of the decimal point so your GPA is 2.83

In college your letter grades are also weighted by the number of hours (or credits) your course is...in high school, if you have Honors or 'accelerated' or 'Advanced Placement' courses, the letter grades are assigned a One Point higher value, so without further information, I cannot tell you what your GPA is with the grades you have given me.

  IF IF  IF the courses are all weighted the same, then A = 4  B = 3 C = 2  D= 1

      In your example if you add these values up  A + A + B + C + C + C + D = 4+4+3+2+2+2+1=18

         the number of course grades is 7.....to get your GPA divide 18 by 7 = 2.57
