How do ou find x?

to solve a basic algebraic equation you must seperate like terms, putting all knowns on one side and all unknowns on the other. Once you have done this you can solve x

 

x+5=6

x=6-5

x=1

You would find x by subtracting 6-5. 6-5=1 

1+5=6

Therefore, x=1.

You find 'x' by isolating it. That means have 'x' on one side and everything else on the other.

 

In this case, you would find x by subtracting 5 to get rid of the 5 on the side of the 'x'. However, what happens on one side also has to happen on the other. Therefore, you would also subtract 5 from 6.

 

x + 5 - 5 = 6 - 5

x = 1

 

In this case, 'x' would equal 1
