b) Compare the vertical asymptotes of f(x) and g(x). Use complete sentences.

#1**+2 **

For f(x) = 1 / [x - 3]

y intercept.....let x = 0 and we have 1 / [ 0 - 3] = -1/3

x intercept...let y = 0 and we have that 0 = 1 / [ x - 3] multiply both sides by x - 3 and we get that

0 = 1......so.....there is no x intercept

Vertical asymptote.....set x - 3 = 0

Add 3 to both sides

x = 3 ⇒ the vertical asymptote

For g(x)

y intercept = 0

x intercept = 0

Vertical asymptote ⇒ x = 4
