(-2(3x+4)/4)=(3x-1)(2+4)
How do I solve this problem step by step?

PEMDAS!

Let's start with simplifying stuff in the parenthesis:
Left side:
(-2(3x+4)/4)
can be written
(-2/4)*(3x+4)=(-1/2)*(3x+4)
then multiplying the -1/2 through:
=-3/2x-2

Right side:
(3x-1)(2+4)=(3x-1)*(6)
then multiplying the 6 through:
=18x-6

put the two sides together again:
-3/2x-2=18x-6

let's get all the x's on 1 side by adding 3/2x to both sides:
left side 3/2x cancels out so:
-2=18x+3/2x-6
18x+3/2x-6=36/2x+3/2x-6=39/2x-6
so, -2=39/2x-6

get all the integers on one side by adding to both sides:
right side 6's cancel out
-2+6=39/2x
4=39/2x

multiply both sides by 2/39
4*(2/39)=(39/2)*(2/39)x
8/39=x
