A square room has an area of 324 square feet. The homeowners plans to cover the floor with 6-inch square tiles. How many tiles will be in each row on the floor?
6 in = 1/2 ft....so...the area of each tile =(1/2 ft)^2 = (1/4) ft^2
And
[324 ft^2] / [1/4 ft ^2] = 1296 tiles
And each row will have sqrt[1296] = 36 tiles
