A square room has an area of 324 square feet. The homeowners plans to cover the floor with 6-inch square tiles. How many tiles will be in each row on the floor?

6 in = 1/2 ft....so...the area of each tile  =(1/2 ft)^2  = (1/4) ft^2

 

 

And

 

[324 ft^2] / [1/4 ft ^2] =  1296 tiles

 

And each row will have sqrt[1296]  = 36 tiles
