A diagonal length of a rectangular yard is 25 feet. the width of the yard is 10 feet. what is the length of the yard rounded to the nearest tenth. 

 

A rectangle has side's with lengths of 3 inches and 9 inches.the is the length of the diagonal of the rectangle of the rectangle rounded to the  nearest tenth

1) Use Pythagoras's theorem:

25^2 =10^2 + L^2

L^2 =25^2 - 10^2

L^2 =625 - 100

L^2 =525 take the sqrt of both sides

L = 22.91 feet - Length of the yard.

 

2) The same thing here:

D^2 =3^2 + 9^2......Let us if you can finish it by yourself. Just follow the example above.
