A man is standing at a radar base and observes an unidentified plane at an altitude 6000m flying towards the radar base at an angle of elevation 300. After exactly one minute, the radar sweep reveals that the plane is now at an angle of elevation 600 maintaining the same altitude. What is the speed in m/s of the plane?

I will assume that is 30and 60o elevation.

Alt = 6000

We  need to find out how much closer it got in 1 minute

First at 30 degrees    tan 30 = opp/ adj = altitude / horizontal distance

                                    .5774 = 6000/d

                                       d = 10 392.3 m

Then at 60 degrees    tan 60

                                    1.732 = 6000/d

                                      d = 3464.1

d1-d2 = 6928.2 m   in ONE minute       divide by 60 to get m/s115.34 m/s

  x60 = 415691.9 m/hr = 415.69 km/hr
