A prop for our  play is constructed as a cone topped with a half-sphere. What is the volume of the prop? Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a cubic inch. Use 3.14 to approximate pi.

Volume of the cone =  1/3  pi r^2 h     r = 9   h = 14

 

Volume of a sphere = 4/3 pi r^3       you only need 1/2 of this  so   1/2  4/3 pi r^3 = 4/6 pi r^3      r = 9

 

add them together
