Solve for x:
(3 x)/4+6 = x/2-4

Put each term in (3 x)/4+6 over the common denominator 4: (3 x)/4+6  =  (3 x)/4+24/4:
(3 x)/4+24/4 = x/2-4

(3 x)/4+24/4 = (3 x+24)/4:
(3 x+24)/4 = x/2-4

Put each term in x/2-4 over the common denominator 2: x/2-4  =  x/2-(8)/2:
(3 x+24)/4 = x/2-(8)/2

x/2-(8)/2 = (x-8)/2:
(3 x+24)/4 = (x-8)/2

Multiply both sides by 4:
(4 (3 x+24))/4 = (4 (x-8))/2

(4 (3 x+24))/4 = 4/4×(3 x+24) = 3 x+24:
3 x+24 = (4 (x-8))/2

4/2 = (2×2)/2 = 2:
