In a set of five consecutive integers, the smallest integer is more than \(3/4\) the largest. What is the smallest possible value of the sum of the five integers?

Let n be the smallest and  n + 4 the largest.....and we  have that,,,,,

 

n >  (3/4)(n + 4)

 

n >  (3/4)n + 3

 

n - (3/4)n > 3

 

(1/4)n > 3       multiply both sides by 4

 

n > 12

 

So  n =  13
