In a set of five consecutive integers, the smallest integer is more than \(3/4\) the largest. What is the smallest possible value of the sum of the five integers?
Let n be the smallest and n + 4 the largest.....and we have that,,,,,
n > (3/4)(n + 4)
n > (3/4)n + 3
n - (3/4)n > 3
(1/4)n > 3 multiply both sides by 4
n > 12
So n = 13
