How do I algebraically prove whether a function is even, odd, or neither?
Please explain then demonstrate on the equation 7x4-x2.
If f(x) = f(-x)....the function is even
If f (-x) = - f (x) ....the function is odd
So let f(x) = 7x^4 - x^2
Sub -x for x
f(-x) = 7(-x)^4 - (-x)^2 = 7x^4 - x^2
So..... since f(x) = f(-x)......this function is even
