I'm a space geek

We noticed something strange about the star KIC 8462852 in October. There was significatn dimming, around 22%. Mind you, this star is around the same size as our sun. To put into comparison, Jupiter only blocks out 1% of the suns light.

1. Thousands of comets going around it, creating alot of dust

The problem with this is that it would need around 648,000 comets around 200km wide in perfect synchronisis for this to happen

The largest comet in our system is 69km wide.

We have since then ruled out this theory due to scans of the dimming period not showing any signs of dust

2. Two planets collide and the debris block out the sunlight.

     Probably the most likely

3. A Dyson sphere made by extraterrestials(coolest theory)

A dyson sphere is a mega structure, that covers up the sun, with solar panels on the inside, to harness the sun's light.

But this requires alot of material. Like, take the 5 suns worth of metal, and this still wouldn't be enough.

Anyways, The amount of energy that this would produce, in a single second is around 350 octillion watts.
