I think the first part is meant to define the operation *, so it would be:
\(7+\sqrt{g+\sqrt{g+\sqrt{g+...}}} = 19\\ \sqrt{g+\sqrt{g+\sqrt{g+...}}}=12\\ \sqrt{g+12}=12\\ g+12=144\\ g=132\)
