p/6=9 what is this beacuse im confused

p/6 = 9

 

The question is, "What number, when divided by 6, equals 9?"

To find out, multiply both sides of the equation by 6.

(p/6)*6 = 9*6

p = 54

 

So 54/6 = 9, which it does.
