Solve for x:
0.5 (5 - 7 x) = 2 - 4 x

Expand out terms of the left hand side:
2.5 - 3.5 x = 2 - 4 x

Add 4 x to both sides:
4 x - 3.5 x + 2.5 = (4 x - 4 x) + 2

4 x - 4 x = 0:
4 x - 3.5 x + 2.5 = 2

4 x - 3.5 x = 0.5 x:
0.5 x + 2.5 = 2

Subtract 2.5 from both sides:
0.5 x + (2.5 - 2.5) = 2 - 2.5

2.5 - 2.5 = 0:
0.5 x = 2 - 2.5

2 - 2.5 = -0.5:
0.5 x = -0.5

Multiply both sides of 0.5 x = -0.5 by 2.:
2.×0.5 x = -0.5×2.

2.×0.5 = 1.:
1. x = -0.5×2.

2. (-0.5) = -1.:
1. x = -1.

Divide both sides by 1.
Answer: |x = -1.
