Patricia has two plants in her garden. Plant A grows 2 inches per month, and Plant B grows 1.8 meters in a year.

[1 meter = 39.37 inches]

Part A: Which plant grows faster? Justify your answer by comparing the rate at which the plants grow after converting to the same units. (5 points)

Part B: If the original height of the plant was 2 inches and you checked on its height every 15 days, describe appropriate scales on the x-axis and y-axis to graph the rate at which the slower growing plant increases in height. Assume that the height of the plant increases linearly.

Hi,

I am not going to do your assignment for you but i will talk about it a little.

Part A:  You need to work our how much each plant grows in a year.  Then compare the 2 values and see which is bigger.

Part B: this is just for the slow plant, which you decided upon in part A

Time would be on the x axis.  The wording is very strange but i think you are expected to put height on the other axis.     The slope of the line would give you the growth rate.

Now you give it a go.
