I need to design an electric circuit with the following specifications
- One 24V supply source
- The supply will provide power to both a control board and a motor.
- Motor is a 72W, dc motor that runs on 12Volts
- The control board runs on 4Volts and 4 watts of power
- The appliance needs a switch to turn on and off. No power should be flowing to the appliance when the switch is off.
- To prevent a fire, the appliance must have a way to shut off power in a power surge.
- The control board should power on, even if the motor can’t.
- Be sure to include an indicator light on the appliance so that someone would be able to tell if it is on.
- Use the phet circuit construction (https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/circuit-construction-kit-dc-virtual-lab) (works on computers) simulator and label the volts, amps, resistance, and power through each resistor or bulbs.
- Label the resistors that represents the control board and motor( There will be 2 separate resistors, plus the others you add to control the voltage.)
- Label the amps through a fuse
- Label the voltage through the power source.
- Summarize your design process (first thing i wanted to know was the current supplied to the control board and motor so I calculated them with L-P/V. Next, bc I needed the power to turn on to the circuit board, even when the motor was not on, I knew I needed a parallel circuit.....etc
*The simulator doesn’t have a motor option so we are supposed to use a resistor as the “motor”*
I know this is a lot but if anyone could take the time to do it, explain it, and include a picture I would be so, so grateful. Thank you!!
