How do i calculate this?

 

A root of   x^2+7x=-8 is ...

 

and does someone know where i could practice these types of questions?

x^2+7x=-8  add 7 to both sides

 

x^2 + 7x + 8  = 0       this will not factor....using the quadratic formula......the solutions are :

 

x  =   [ - 7 + √17]/ 2    and  x  = [ - 7 - √17]/ 2
