Andrew solved the equation:

4/x^2-8x+12 = x/x-2 + 1/x-6

He said that 2 is a extraneous solution because it creates a 0 in the denominator. Is Andrew correct in his thinking? Explain how you know.

Please help me, I'm horrible at extraneous solutions. Thank you so so so much you're amazing :D

Look  at     x  / (x - 2)

Note that  if x = 2  we get

2 /  ( 2 - 2)   =

2 / 0

But division by 0 is undefined.....so   2   will  not work.....so.....it is extraneous !!!
