The average national ath test scores f(t) for 17 year olds can be represented as a function of the national science scores t by f(t)=0.8t + 72. find f(308)
I know the answer is f(308)=318.4, but then it asks what this means. Can anyone help?

It means that if you find all the maths scores for people who scored 308 for science. And then you average these maths scores. You would get an average maths score of 318.4 for these people.
Of course this is statistical approximation so you would not expect it to be exact.
Does that make sense ? :))
