My Mum was 27 when I was born. 8 years ago she was twice as old as I shall be in five years time. How old am I now?
Please could you make this more simple as I am in year 5 and you are obviouslly really good a maths and I do not understand this at all.#

8 years ago your mom was 8 years younger this means she was 27+ Y - 8
in 5 years you will be Y+5 two times this is 2 (Y+5) = 2Y + 10 and this equals 27+Y-8
27+Y - 8 = 2Y + 10 simplify
19 + Y = 2Y + 10 subtract 10 from both sides of the equation
Y + 9 = 2Y subtract Y from both sides
9 = Y
