James made some chairs and tables in the ratio of 4:7. He gave 1/5 of the chairs to Dave and 2/3 of the tables to Roy. What was the ratio of the number of the tables to the number of chairs given away?

gave away 1/5c    and 2/3 t

 

1/5 ( 4) / ((2/3)(7)

4/5  /  14/3

12 / 70   = 6:35      is  C:T       T:C = 35:6

=> 60 : 105 ( multiply by LCM of 3,5)

Given away : 1/5 * 60 = 12 of chairs

                      2/3 * 105 = 70 of tables

Therefore  :   Ratio is = 12 : 70

                                   = 6 : 35
