A cylinder’s height equals the diameter of its base. What fraction of the total surface area of the cylinder is the total area of the two bases? Express your answer as a common fraction.

The S.A. of a cylinder is 2(πr^2) + h* 2πr, so we have 2πr^2 + 4πr^2 = 6πr^2.

 

The area of the 2 bases is 2(πr^2) so 2/6 = 1/3.
