Let x be the smaller number and y the larger....so.....
x = (1/5)y (1)
y - x = 260 (2)
Sub (1) into (2)
y - (1/5)y = 260 simplify
(4/5)y = 260
y =260 (5/4)
y = 325
x = (1/5)(325) = 65
