One number is 5 more than another. The sum of thrice the small plus twice the larger is 50  What are the two numbers?

From what I understood from the question:

There are 2 numbers. Let's take the smaller number as x and the larger number y.

x+5 =y

The Question also tells us:

3x + 2y = 50

Now, we can substitute the value of y.

3x + 2(x+5) = 50

3x+ 2x + 10 = 50

5x + 10 = 50

5x = 40

x = 8

If x is 8, then y is:

x+5 = y

8+5 = 13

So x is 8 and y is 13.

Hope that helps!!! :)
