On any given day, there is a 52% chance of there being an auto-related accident on a certain stretch of highway. The occurrence of an accident from one day to the next is independent.  (a). What is the probability that there will be 4 accidents in the next 9 days

I think this is a  binomial  probability problem

Chance of an accident on any day =  .52

Chance of no  accident  on any day = .48

We have  9  days and we  want to  choose any  4 of them....so....the probability is

C(9,4) (.52)^4 (.48)^5   ≈  .2347   =  23.47%
