9  +  27/x   +  8  / x^2   =  0      multiply  through by   x^2

 

9x^2  +  27x  +  8   =   0         factor   as

 

(3x  + 1)  (3x + 8)   =  0

 

Setting  each factor  to 0 and solving for  x  we get  that

 

x = 1/ 3         or       x =    -8/3
