I took your equation to mean: (1/5)^(4x) - 3 = 5

Solve for x over the real numbers:
5^(-4 x) - 3 = 5

Add 3 to both sides:
5^(-4 x) = 8

Take the logarithm base 5 of both sides:
-4 x = (log(8))/(log(5))

Divide both sides by -4:
Answer: |x = -(log(8))/(4 log(5))=-0.3230074185550.....

If, on the other hand, you meant  (1/5)^(4x-3) = 5 then:

5^(3 - 4x) = 5  so

3 - 4x = 1

2 = 4x

x = 1/2

.
