Two trains, 350 miles apart, travel toward each other, on different tracks.One leaves at noon and travels 50mph. The other leaves at 1 PM, traveling at 70 mph. At what time will they pass each other.

And rate * time = distance....so....
50*H + 70 * (H - 1) = 350 simplify
50H + 70H - 70 = 350
120H - 70 = 350 add 70 to both sides
120H = 420 divide both sides by 120
H = 420 /120 = 3.5 hrs
So....they meet at 3:30 PM
