Starting at the same point, Tom and Juanita go biking in opposite directions. If Tom rides at a speed of 14 mph, and Juanita rides at a speed of 20 mph, how far apart will they be in 2 hours?

( Please include explanation, thank you! )

Tom will travel 14 mph which means he will have traveled 14*2=28 miles in the two hours.
Juanita will have travelled 20*2=40 miles in the two hours. Since they're going in the opposite directions simply add upp their distances (40+28) and you will find how far apart they are after two hours.
