Tracy works at a hot dog stand.
• She sells 3 hot dogs and 2 pretzels for $15.00.
• She sells 5 hot dogs and 1 pretzel for $21.50.
Then Tracy sells 2 hot dogs and 4 pretzels. What is the total cost of this order?
Given:
3 h + 2 p = 15 and
5 h + 1 p = 21.50 multiply this equation by -1
-10 h - 2 p = -43.00 and add this to the first equation
-7 h = -28.00
h = $ 4
then 3 (4) + 2 p = 15
12 + 2 p = 15 p = 1.50
now you know price of h and p and can compute the total cost of 2 h and 4 p.....I'll let you do that !
