1/3 of Damien's money is the same as 4/5 of Philip's money. If Damien had $21 more than Philip, how much money do they have altogether?

Let Damien's total amount of money ==D

Let Philip's total amount of money ==P

1/3D ==4/5P,

D ==P + 21, solve for D, P

D ==$36     and     P ==$15

$36  +   $15 ==$51.00 - their total amount of money.

21 ÷ 7 = $3

how much they have altogether  : 5 + 5 + 7 = 17 --> $3 * 17 = $57

They have $57 altogether
