A football team won 10 matches out of the total number of matches they played.If their team win percentage was 40 , then how many matches did they play in all?

It is given that the team won 10 matches and the winning percentage of the team was 40%.

Therefore,Thus, the team played 25 matches.

If you would like to do this by using proportions:

wins / all games  =  40% / 100%

10 / x  =  .4 / 1.00

Cross multiply:  .40x  =  10 x 1.00

                        .40x  = 10

Divide by .40          x  = 10 / .40  =  25 games
