The mural of your school mascot is 4 feet by 12 feet and is to be completely framed using a single row of square tiles each 2 inches on an edge. If the tiles are $0.10 each, find the cost, in dollars, of the tiles needed to frame the mural.
Algebra question.
4 feet = 48 inches
12 feet = 144 inches
On two oppositie sides of the framing we will have 48 / 2 = 24 tiles on each side
On the other two sides of the framing we will have 144 / 2 = 72 tiles on each side
Plus.....we have 4 tiles on the corners
Total cost = [ 2 * 24 + 2 * 72 + 4 ] * .10 = $19.60
