Mrs Tan put some popsicles into her cooler box for a party. Damien took \( {1 \over 5}\) of

them but returned 5 popsicles into the color. Alice then took \({2 \over 3}\) of the

remaining popsicles and an additional 3 from the color. Ben then took \( {1 \over 4}\) of

the remaining popsicles. There were 21 popsicles left in the cooler in the end.

How many popsicles did Mrs Tan put into the cooler box at first?

x = origianl amount

x - 1/5x + 5     after d      =  4/5 x + 5   remaining

(4/5x+5)  - (2/3 ( 4/5 x + 5) +3 )    =  4/15 x - 4/3   remaining after A

then Ben takes 1/4   leaving 3/4         3/4 (4/15 x - 4/3)  = 21

                                                                           x =  originally 110
