Solve for m:
y = 100+m x

y = 100+m x is equivalent to 100+m x = y:
100+m x = y

Subtract 100 from both sides:
m x = y-100

Divide both sides by x:
Answer: |m = y/x - 100/x

That is not true if x =0  becasue you cannot divide by 0.

It would be tru the rest of the time though. 

 

m is the gradient - if you know the gradient of the line you can just replace the m with the gradient value.
