Jenny had 3/8 as many stickers as Alice and twice as many stickers as Lily. If Alice had 40 more stickers than Jenny, how many stickers did all of them have altogether?

Let Alice's stickers ==A
Let Lily's stickers ==L
Let Jenny's stickers ==J

J ==3/8A
L==1/2J
A ==J + 40, solve for A, J, L

Use substitution to get:
A==64,  J==24,  L==12

64  +  24  +  12==100 - total stickers of the 3 girls.
