A blueberry cheesecake meant for dessert was already half-eaten in the afternoon. Below are the children's replies when their mom checked with them. Robert: Sarah ate the cake. Sarah: Robert lied. Tony: C'mon I didn't even open the fridge. Only one of them told the truth. Who ate the cake?

I see what you mean.  But you aren't the only "Guest" on this site.  Let me take a crack at it.

Robert: Sarah ate the cake.

Sarah:  Robert lied.

Tony:    C'mon I didn't even open the fridge.

Only one of them told the truth.

Who ate the cake?

Assume Robert ate the cake.  Then Robert lied, Sarah told the truth, & Tony told the truth.   2 truths

Assume Sarah ate the cake.  Then Robert told the truth, Sarah lied, & Tony told the truth.     2 truths

Assume Tony ate the cake.  Then Robert lied, Sarah told the truth, & Tony lied.                      1 truth

Tony ate the cake.
